New Youth Black Belt and Junior Black Belt Program

Great News!  The Karate University has developed a new Youth

Black Belt and a New Junior Black Belt Program.  This is an

exciting opportunity for those 3 to 17 year olds to have a fair

opportunity to work towards and achieve their own Black Belt,

without changing the original Black Belt standards.

The Martial Arts and the Black Belt were designed for adults.

Most studios have chosen to bring their belt requirements down

by setting the standards of each Belt Test by the age of the student.

In other words selling belts, not awarding them by individual bests,

but (for example) by what a what a 3 year old is capable of so that

literally anyone can get a Black Belt without actually completing the

original high standards set by the original systems.

Historically, it has been the choice of our system to keep the original

standards high, however we feel that this has not been fair for those

students who really can not master all the requirements due to age

and size.

So, we have worked out a way to modify the existing system without

compromising the high expectations and standards, where we believe

that this new program will be fair and equal for all...

YOUTH

A 3 to 9 year old (YOUTH) can not stand toe to toe with an Adult or Junior with the same belt rank, nor should they be expected to.  Certainly their

commitment and drive for perfection is strong. So, accordingly, they should be rewarded for their outstanding hard work and dedication.

The YOUTH Black Belt will be the equivalent to the JUNIOR High Brown Belt and at the age of 10 (or before) the YOUTH must test and pass the requirements for the JUNIOR Red Belt AND JUNIOR Black Belt, in order to wear the JUNIOR Black Belt.

JUNIOR

Most 10-17 year old's (JUNIOR) can not stand toe to toe with an Adult of the same belt rank, nor should the be expected to.  This doesn't mean that they give any less effort or that their workouts aren't as tough, they are just not adults and therefore, why test them as Adults?

The JUNIOR Black Belt will be equivalent to the ADULT High Brown Belt and at the ave of 18 (or less) the JUNIOR must test and pass the requirments for the ADULT Red Belt AND ADULT 1st Phase Adult Black Belt to receive the Adult Black Belt.

ADULT

All students 18 years of age or older will be required to test and pass the original standards for the American Karate Black Belt Association.
